Computer Printer Ink - Better Ways To Reproduce The Color Of An Image
Remember the old black-and-white printers? The only way you could get color prints was to take your order somewhere and have it done. Today having a color printer in the house is like having a coffee pot. Even though almost every household has one, buying the computer printer ink can be costly if you are not familiar with some of the better printing techniques.
Printers give you the ability to choose your print quality and the kind of paper you are printing on. You can usually find these in a “settings” tab in your printing program. A higher resolution image requires more computer printer ink than other images. What constitutes a higher resolution image is the dots per inch that you have set. (DPI is much different than PIXELS) Just one color image pixel can require several printer ink dots.
Images vary as well. If you have a fuzzy image, using a higher dpi does not correct this. Again you are just wasting your computer printer ink unnecessarily. If you have a fuzzy image, it’s better to try to sharpen that image with a good photo manipulation program. Once sharpened to your satisfaction, then use the same dpi to print that image as you do your others. Experiment with your settings to get the best results. Sometimes just changing the brand of paper or the whiteness of the paper can make a huge difference.
One way to save money on printing ink is to buy the remanufactured or refilled cartridges. Finding compatible ink cartridges for your computer printer is pretty easy. One place is your email spam folder. (Just kidding). There are several reputable companies offering refilled or remanufactured ink cartridges at a price well below retail for new ink cartridges. Some of the more popular brands even offer used cartridges alongside their new ones. Be sure to read the specifics for your printer. Some printers contain a warning about using refilled cartridges with that printer. You don’t want to do anything to void your warranty on the printer itself!
